On the 17th of October 2011, Amnesty International invited Black Sash staff in Gauteng, other NGO’s and government departments to join them for a day of action against poverty. The day was intended to highlight the challenges to dignity faced by communities living in poverty.
The event took place in Doroonkop - Soweto. It formed part of a campaign to inform the general public about economic and social rights as well as educate people on how they can access these rights. The Black Sash staff used the opportunity to inform the people of Doroonkop about our services and distribute our rights education materials.
